Made with Hearts & Crafts 100% superwash merino in worsted weight, this piece is a timeless addition to your cool weather wardrobe.
1 skein Hearts & Crafts worsted weight 100% merino wool (we used Raspberry Beret)
US 7 circular needles
4.5 stitches and 6.5 rows per inch in stockinette stitch
Finished dimensions are 16" from top edge of neck to bottom point with neck circumference of 22"
This pattern can be made with any yarn or needle size as long as the measurements are achieved. Simply continue in the pattern until your cowl is the desired length.
s2kp: slip 2 stitches together (knit wise), knit 1, pass both slipped stitches over
Cast on 5 stitches
Row 1 (WS): Slip 1 purlwise, purl to end (5 stitches; repeat for all odd numbered rows)
Row 2 (RS): Slip 1 knitwise, knit to end (5 stitches)
Row 4: Slip 1 knit wise, k1, m1L, k1, m1R, k2 (7 stitches)
Row 6: Slip 1 knitwise, k2, yo, k1, yo, k to end (9 stitches)
Row 8: Slip 1 knitwise, k2, (yo, k1) 3 times, yo, k to end (13 stitches)
Row 10: Slip 1 knitwise, k2, yo, k2, place marker,yo, s2kp, yo, k2, yo, place marker, k to end (15 stitches)
Row 12: Slip 1 knitwise, k2, yo, knit to marker, slip marker, yo, s2kp, yo, knit to next marker, yo, slip marker, k to end (17 stitches).
Row 13: Slip 1 purl wise, purl to end.
Repeat rows 12 and 13 until piece measures approx 13" long by 22" wide.
End with RS row (remove second marker)
Place marker and join to continue in the round.
Next row: Knit
Next row: Knit to first marker, slip marker, yo, s2kp, yo, knit to end.
Repeat last two rows until piece measures 2.5 inches from join
Next row: Purl
Next row: Knit
Repeat last two rows 2 more times, binding off loosely on final knit row. Weave in ends and block as desired.
